Web science

Web science — инициатива по созданию науки, объединяющей изучение социальных и технических аспектов развития всемирной паутины. Инициатива выдвинута Тимом Бернерсом-Ли 2 ноября 2006 года в Массачусетском технологическом институте.

Предмет науки охватывает следующие основные вопросы:

  • история всемирной паутины,
  • развитие всемирной паутины,
  • всемирная паутина и общество,
  • приспособление Web science к «миру международной торговли»,
  • анализ всемирной паутины.

К лету 2009 года в ряде университетов и учебных центров мира разработано 18 курсов, посвящённых Web science.[1]

Крупнейший исследовательский институт, занимающийся Web science, — совместный британо-американский Web Science Research Institute.
